Caring For Your Trophy Before Getting it to Brad the Taxidermist
Preparing Your Fish
Do not gut the fish. Saturate a towel in water. Wrap the whole fish in it. Secure tightly into a plastic bag. Freeze it and get it
to the taxidermist as soon as you can. Or, keep your fish on ice until you can get to the taxidermist.
Preparing Your Deer
If a deer cooler is caping your deer, do not leave hanging in the cooler for more than three days before bringing to the taxidermist. The chance of bacteria setting in
is very high. The hide needs to be frozen or brought to the taxidermist as soon as possible. Do not keep in a freezer too long or you'll risk
freezer burn to the hide.
Fish Replicas
To conserve the threatened population of game fish many now choose to have their trophy catch mounted as a replica so the fish can be released.
Largemouth and smallmouth bass replica mounts are becoming more popular. Brad the Taxidermist can assist you with that.
Here's what to do - once you've caught your trophy fish, measure the length and girth, take a photograph or two, and release it to be caught again. Brad Jones Taxidermy will create a masterpiece of the memory for you.
